Erratic power supply: Bar Association Shopian gifts Kerosene lamp to DDC to mark protest

Shopian/Pulwama: In a typical way to lodge protest against the Power Development Department (PDD), the Bar Association Shopian on Wednesday gifted a kerosene lamp to District Development Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed to mark a protest against the erratic power supply in the district.
Besides, the residents of Pulwama braving the frosty weather conditions also staged a protest against the erratic power supply in their areas.
Pulwama town residents on Wednesday afternoon assembled at Murran Chowk and organized a protest against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing to provide them adequate electricity. They blocked traffic on busy Pulwama-Srinagar road for hours.
However, the protesters called off their protest after PDD officials assured them of redressal of their grievances.
In Shopian member of Bar Association Shopian carried out a rally from court complex Shopian to Mini Secretariat Shopian and gifted a kerosene lamp to District Development Commissioner Shopian, Dr Owais Ahmed.
Bar Association members alleged that Shopian district has been neglected on all fronts and they are hardly getting two to three hours power supply in 24 hours.
