SHRC issues notice to Chief Engineer, PDD
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to Chief Engineer Power Development Department for resorting to unscheduled power cuts both in metered and non-metered areas and for irregular power supply as winter has set in.
The SHRC has sought a report from the Chief Engineer within a week’s time. The chief engineer has been asked to submit a report as to why power cuts are effected even without a notice.
Notably, SHRC had received a complaint saying that as the winter season has begun and with the recent snowfall the power development department (PDD) has started unscheduled and irregular power cuts in metered and non-metered areas across Kashmir.
The complaint added due to the unscheduled power cuts people, particularly students, were facing immense hardships in cold days and nights.
