Srinagar: Refuting the claims that he has defaulted from paying the amount towards J&K Bank, Deputy Mayor Sheikh Imran issued a statement later in the day.
He said, “we at Kehwah group have repaid back 51crores to JK bank out of total 78crores and balance of rupees 27crores stands arranged 4months back by selling 2more projects at a huge loss to identified buyers of JK bank. We stood and stand committed to repay public money but few people who didn’t want me to become deputy mayor for the reasons known to them failed, and so left no stone unturned to defame me. I can only say please verify facts as Allah knows it all and May Allah give them Hidayat!
Imran further said,”I am political victim but intend to fight back now as even after paying my debt I am defamed I am just curious that many accounts turned NPA’s before me, no no one paid like me, no OTS cancellations like in my case, never heard that twice notice was issued for any one. Moreover, they should have withdrawn the caution notice before issuing or cancellation of OTS. I read cancellation of OTS through paper and not through any proper procedure but I am committed to repay and have arranged money and all the concerned bank officials know it. But the bank needs to answer all the above,” he said, adding that many a skeletons will fall from the banks closet.
