Sopore: Government forces on Wednesday evening conducted searches in the upper reaches of Harwan village in north Kashmir’s Sopore area.
According to reports, Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles, Special Operation Group (SOG) and CRPF jointly started searches in Harwan village surrounded by forests in Sopore.
Reports said that “it was second time that the search operation was launched in this village in last one week.”
Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Javid Iqbal confirmed that the search operation was going on and said that following specific information about the presence of some militants in the village, a joint operation was initiated.
However, he added that no contact with militants has been established so far.
Door to door search operation in the area continued for several hours, witnesses said.
Meanwhile, forces launched a CASO in Hajin town in Bandipora.
Army’s 13RR, police’s SOG and 45 battalion CRPF laid the siege on Syed Mohalla of Hajin town after receiving ‘inputs about the presence of militants in the area, said a police official.
However, the search operation ended after several hours.
