Shopian civilian killed in cold blood: Mirwaiz

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Monday strongly condemned the killing of a civilian, Shahid Mansoor at Shopian by ‘forces’, terming it as ‘extremely barbaric’.
Mirwaiz as per a statement issued here said that “brutal killing of Shahid was a cold blooded murder as according to his family he was abducted and later killed by the forces.”
He said that “it was a glaring example of how under the grab of infamous and brutal CASO our youth are being killed and targeted on a daily basis.”
He also paid tributes to the armed youth Shaheen Irfan who was killed in an encounter in Gagran Shopian and said that “the intransigence of GOI on Kashmir disputes is pushing the youth towards picking up guns.”
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of prominent political figure of Azad Kashmir, Sardar Khalid Ibrahim who was the son of former president AJK Sardar Muhammad Ibrahim Khan, a close associate of Mujajire Millat Mirwaiz Yousuf Shah.
Mirwaiz in his condolence message while paying tributes to deceased leader said that “his political, and social contributions are unforgettable and that he will be remembered for his unflinching stand on Kashmir dispute as he always maintained that it should be resolved as per the wishes and aspirations of its people.”
Mirwaiz while praising Khalif Ibrahim for his farsightedness said that he was a great leader who earned name and fame by serving the people of AJK on all fronts in his four-decade long political career.
He said Sardar Khalid always stood to his principles and never compromised on his stand on the Kashmir dispute. Mirwaiz prayed for the highest standards in Jannah for the deceased.
Mirwaiz also expressed his serious concern over the huge losses caused to the apple and other crops on the both sides of the tunnel including Chenab Valley, South and North Kashmir due to unexpected snowfall and expressed sympathy and solidarity with the farmers in the present testing times.
He said though natural calamities and fury can’t be avoided, the only way to face these difficult times is to stand strong, united and seek protection for life and property from Allah Almighty.
