Kulgam civilian killings: SKAUST students, Civil Society Sopore stage protest

Sopore: The students of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology (SKUAST) of North campus at WadooraSopore on Monday staged a protest against the civilian killings in Kulgam district on Sunday.
Scores of students including female students assembled in the premises of varsity and shouted anti-government and pro-freedom slogans. The students held a protest at the campus to condemn the killings and express solidarity with their families.
“Our innocents brothers are been killed, our houses are been ransacked, our women flocks are been harassed but the irony is that Central government is hardly bothered about us Kashmiris,” the protesting students said.
Meanwhile, scores of members from Civil Society Sopore also staged a protest against the civilian killings in Kulgam district in southern Kashmir on Sunday.
The members of Civil Society assembled at General Bus Stand in Sopore and raised slogans against the Kulgam killings.
Earlier on Sunday, seven civilians were killed in Kulgam in an explosion post gunfight in Laroo village in South Kashmir Kulgam district.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was witnessed in parts of Sopore with all shops, business establishment and petrol pumps remaining shut while as public transport was off the roads in Sopore town.
The shutdown call was given by Joint Resistance Leadership comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Yasin Malik.
