Kulgam: Amid tears, sobs, 7th civilian laid to rest

Anantnag: Amid tears, sobs, the seventh civilian who succumbed to his injuries on late Sunday night was laid to rest at his native village Hawoora in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
Earlier on Sunday six civilian died in an explosion near gunfight site in Laroo area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district while as another civilian succumbed to his injuries on late Sunday evening, taking the death toll to seven.
The slain civilians were identified as Auqib Ahmad Sheikh, son of Gulzar Ahmad Sheikh of DanowKulgam, Uzair Ahmad Dar, son of Mushtaq Ahmad Dar of NayakporaKulgam, Irshad Ahmad Paddar, son of SayedullahPaddar of ShuratKulgam, Mansoor Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar of BogundKulgam, Talib Ahmad Laway, son of Mohammad Maqbool Laway of Laroo, Mukeen Ahmad Bhat of Laroo and Mansoor Ahmad.
Prior to the explosion, three militants affiliated with Jaish-e-Muhammad were killed in the gunfight who were identified as Shahid Ahmad Tantary of Wangam Shopian, Zubair Ahmad Lone of AhwatooKulgam and Yazil Ahmad Makroo of Arwani, Bijbehara.
Notably, over 50 civilians were injured during the clashes that between youth and forces at encounter site in Kulgam’sLaroo village.
Amid restrictions, thousands of people from different places of Kashmir Valley visited the residences of slain civilians in Kulgam district to attend their funeral on Sunday.
On Monday, the funeral procession of seventh civilian identified as Javiad Ahmad Lone was held at his native village Hawoora in which thousands of people participated.
Amid pro-freedom slogans, he was laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown was observed across the Valley against the Kulgam killings.
