Dr Sameer Matoo is DHS Jammu, DAK welcomes appointment

Srinagar: The J&K Govt on Thursday appointed Dr Kunzes Dolma as Director Health Services, Kashmir (DHSK), the post which was held by the Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Atal Dullo, after Dr Saleem Ur Rehman was transferred.

An order vide number 579-HME of 2018 issued on Thursday ordered the appointment of Dr Dolma as the Director health services Kashmir, while as Dr Sameer Matoo was appointed as Director Health Services, Jammu.

“Dr Kunzes Dolma, I/C Deputy Director (Headquarter) Health Services Kashmir, shall hold the charge of Director Health Services, Kashmir in addition to her own assignment till further orders,” the order reads.

“Dr Sameer Mattoo, Director, Family Welfare, MCH and Immunization J&K is transferred and appointed as Director Health Services, Jammu relieving Bhupinder Singh, IAS of the additional charge,” the order reads further.

Earlier, Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Atal Dullo had assured that the appointment of the Director Health Services will be made soon and the basis of seniority and merit will be kept into consideration while making the appointments.

Medico body, Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) was also demanding the urgent appointment of the Directors for Kashmir and Jammu, strictly as per merit. The DAK delegation that met Principal Secretary had also raised the issue with him.

After the appointment of Directors, DAK in a statement welcomed the move, terming the order of appointments in favour of the betterment of the health care in the state.

“Both the appointed Directors do have an impeccable integrity and excellent administrative skills,” said DAK president Dr Suhail Naik.

“We are hopeful that the appointment of new directors will bring accountability in the system and will end corruption, nepotism and favouritism in the department” Dr Naik added.

General Secretary DAK, Dr Owais H Dar, while congratulating both the newly appointed directors said: “We are highly satisfied that government has chosen doctors with utmost seniority and credibility for the highest chair and we are very much hopeful that now the rural health care system will grow and shine under their dynamic leadership.”

To get back integrity, prestige and glory of the sacrosanct health institution, DAK demands that appointment of the new directors should set the precedence to appoint rest of administrative heads like CMO, BMO and medical superintendents etc on seniority, respecting the current recruitment rules, Dr Owais said.
