Srinagar: The School Fee Fixation Committee (SFFC) has served a show cause notice to the management of Delhi Public School (DPS) Baramulla for denying admit cards to students ahead of their examinations.

The notice was served after a complaint was registered with SFFC by parents that management of DPS Baramulla had denied admit cards of the students who had not paid their dues fully.

The committee has also questioned the school management for charging Rs 3500 as annual charges without seeking any approval from the fee fixation committee.

“This office is continuously receiving complaints from parents of students that DPS Baramulla is demanding Rs 3500 as annual charges and is resorting to pressure tactics by refusing to issue admit cards for the ensuing examination,” reads the SFFC notice issued to the school.

The notice reads that the committee has not so far approved the said amount as annual charges for the school. “So the school cannot charge such amount from the students,” it said.

Notably, the school authorities have been reprimanded and asked to provide admit cards to the students without any preconditions.

“You are directed to issue admit cards to the students without any precondition. You are also directed not to force the parents to pay Rs 3500 until a proper permission in this regard is issued by this committee,” the notice adds.

The school has been threatened that violation of any kind of set norms will warrant action against the school.

“And the committee may in such circumstances refer the case to CBSE for appropriate action against the school,” reads the notice.

Meanwhile, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Baramulla has asked the Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Singhpora Kalan, Baramulla to investigate the matter.

“You are directed to investigate into the matter and furnish a detailed factual report to this office in light of the contents of the letter issued by SFFC,” reads a letter shot to ZEO from CEO Baramulla.

The ZEO has been asked to direct the management of DPS Baramulla to provide admit cards to the students for appearing in the ensuing exams immediately without charging any annual charges.
