Three militants, cop killed in Fatehkadal gunfight
Srinagar: Three militants and a cop is reported to have been killed during the encounter that raged in Fatehkadal area of the city on Wednesday morning.
Reports said that the house where the gunmen had taken shelter has also been damaged in the encounter.
An police official said that three militants and one policeman was killed in the operation. However, thew identity of militants is yet to be ascertained.
He said that the slain policeman has been identified as Kamal from Reasi.
Notably, a gunfight broke out in Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar district early Wednesday morning between militants and government forces.
Reports said that a joint team of Police and CRPF on specific information about presence of some militants cordoned off Fateh Kadal.
As soon as government forces zeroed on to the suspected house, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
Two National Conference workers were killed in the area on 5th of this month. Reports said that gunmen targeted the workers for being associated with the party.
