Higher reaches in north Kashmir receive season’s first snowfall

Srinagar: The upper reaches of north Kashmir districts of Kupwara and Bandipora recieved a moderate snowfall on Tuesday. This was the season’s first snowfall in the region. The snowfall has brought the temperature down in the entire Kashmir Valley.
Reports said that Gurez valley in Bandipora district and Keran in Kupwara received season’s first snowfall late last night.
Nearly one feet of snow accumulated on the famous Sadhna top on Karnah-Kupwara road disrupting normal life and movement of traffic on the road. Besides, Kupwara the higher region of Bandipora also received few inches of snowfall.
Reports said that snowfall was witnessed on the Bandipora-Gurez road leading to closure of the road.
According to reports one feet snow in Karnah area has shut the Karnah-Kupwara road.
“Schools and offices are closed and electricity and other facilities have been disrupted,” reports said.
Snowfall in Gurez and Dawar areas of Bandipora district has led to closure of Bandipora-Gurez road.
Reports said that Dawar, Tulial and Baktore areas of Gurez witnessed moderate snowfall last night.
“Razdan Pass connecting Gurez Valley with rest of the state has also received moderate snowfall,” officials said.
