Anantnag: Authorities on Monday slapped Public Safety Act (PSA) against former Mirwaiz South Kashmir, Qazi Yasir and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Tehsil president Ashiq Narchoor. Both were later shifted to a jail in Jammu.
Sources said that the duo was shifted to Hiranagar jail in Jammu after being arrested for ‘anti-state’ activities during the recent Urban Local Body (ULB) polls.
Ashiq Narchoor, who is affiliated with Tehreek-e-Hurriyat was arrested during a raid carried out on his house at Mattan area of the district last week.
Qazi Yasir was arrested by the police during a nocturnal raid on last Sunday after he announced the call for ‘Demo referendum,’ and also had demanded the removal of Army camp at Redwani Kulgam.
Interestingly, the Idara Tehkeeqat-i-Islami (Islamic Research Foundation) on Friday removed Yasir as its head preacher (Mirwaiz south Kashmir) after obscene videos and photos of the cleric went viral on social media.
Pertinently, besides holding the position of Mirwaiz south Kashmir, Yasir was heading Islamic Research Foundation Institute and Ummat-e-Islami, a socio-political organization.
