Suspected gunmen strike at retired police officer’s residence, decamp with weapons

Srinagar: Suspected militants on Sunday late evening strike at retired police officer’s residence and decamped with two weapons along with magazines in Gopalpora area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Reports said that the gunmen barged inside the house of retired Superintendent of Police (SP), Ghulam Mohammad Gurezi at Noorani colony in Gopalpora area of Chadoora.

The gunmen over overpowered the cops at the guard room guarding the former police officer and fled away along with two carbine rifles and four magazines.

SSP Budgam Tejinder Singh confirmed the incident and said that police team has been rushed to the spot to verify the details.

“Police has taken cognizance and further investigation have been taken up”, the SSP said.

Soon after the incident government forces launched searches trace out the militants. (GNS)
