Life comes to halt, internet chocked; educational institutions shut
Srinagar: Educational institutions in most parts of Kashmir Valley are shut for the day, with restrictions in several parts of the old city to mourn the killing of scholar turned militant commander Manan Wani.
Educational institutions across Sopore Division, Bandipora, Kupwara are closed. The step has been taken to maintain law and order in wake of the strike call given by Joint Resistance leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik.
Further, train services have also been suspended in from Banihal to Baramullah. The class work at Kashmir University has also been suspended for the day.
Authorities have also reduced internet speed, which is expected to continue throughout the day. Heavy security arrangements have been put in place in volatile parts of Valley.
Reports further said that a curfew-like situation is witnessed in Lolab area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district.
