DAK for administrative seniority in Health Department
Demands appointment of Health Directors on Priority
Srinagar: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Tuesday in a statement said that Health Department is in a dire need of overhaul and it is due to ‘callous attitude’ of the successive governments that “the most essential department dealing with humanity, life and death is in shambles.”
DAK said that the department needs multi-dimensional reformative changes to get it back on the right track and vibrancy.
“The pick and choose method adopted for selection of health administrators has taken heavy toll on various health initiatives and functioning of the department as such and that in-turn has resulted in sufferings of common people. The parachuting of junior medical officers into Block Medical officers, Medical Superintendents, chief medical officers etc has resulted in administrative incompetence, indiscipline and degradation of department,” DAK said
In order to get discipline and essence of the department back, the first and foremost thing is to “restore administrative seniority and appoint administrators for health department on the basis of seniority, credibility, and administrative acumen.”
Meanwhile DAK also demanded that directors for health services Kashmir/Jammu must be appointed on priority and as early as possible, “so that monitoring and surveillance of essential department will continue,” the statement said.
Doctors Association Kashmir has further requested Governor Satya Pal Malik and the Advisor for Health, K Vijay Kumar, to pursue the issue urgently “so that faith and trust of the people and the doctors in this department is restored at the earliest.”
