DAK condemns assault on doctors at SDH Kupwara
Kupwara: Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) Tuesday has strongly condemned the ‘brutal attack’ and ‘manhandling’ of on duty doctors of SDH Kupwara on Monday Afternoon.
DAK in a statement said that “it has become a routine for unruly and jingoistic mobs to target the doctors across the state for no fault of theirs. Yesterday at 1.30pm, a patient was brought to casualty section of SDH Kupwara where doctors after examining the case declared the patient brought dead and attendants without any reason started misbehaving and manhandling with the on-duty doctors.”
DAK said that the FIR has been registered against the culprits and it stresses upon the Govt to book “the culprits and stringent action as per law taken on the unruly persons.”
This is not the first time; DAK said that, the doctors are attacked on duty. This is going on since a long time. “Our concern for patient care is taken as our helplessness. But this has to be stopped somewhere.”
“The failure of state government in enacting a law in our turmoil hit state is unfortunate and is the main reason for the frequent thrashing of doctors by these hooligans and rowdies,” it rued.
Condemning the incident DAK blamed authorities of taking a “lacklustre approach” in making manhandling of doctors and damaging of hospital infrastructure, a cognisable offence.
