Students who have been declared unsuccessful actually passing their qualifying exams

Srinagar: The ongoing admission process for various Post graduation courses has left hundreds of candidates a frustrated lot as their graduation re-evaluation result are yet to be finalized.
These candidates had appeared in the PG entrance of KU on provisional basis and fall under merit in their subjects but their graduation (5th and 6th semester) re-evaluation results are yet to be announced.
The candidates complained of flawed evaluation of answer scripts, leaving them in state of depression.
“Our evaluators have wrongly evaluated our answer papers due to which we were not declared as having qualified the exams. We obtained xerox copies of our answer scripts wherein it was revealed that our answer scripts have not been checked properly,” said one of the aggrieved candidates.
The candidates have applied for re-evaluation results almost two weeks ago but the varsity authorities are yet to complete the process which has left the students in despair.
“If our re-evaluation results will be declared sooner, then we can claim for our admission in our chosen PG course because we fall under merit,” said another candidate.
The KU authorities in last week of September uploaded the results of 5th and 6th semester combined exams wherein almost 1700 students were shown unqualified in one or two subjects.
“I was shown unqualified in my Urdu subject and was awarded only eight marks out of 100 but when I obtained a xerox copy of my answer script I found that the evaluator had mistakenly awarded only eight instead of eighty marks,” said a student.
Another student Irfan, who was declared unqualified in English subject, said he was given only 24 marks.
“But after obtaining xerox of answer sheet I saw that I am actually getting 42 marks out of 100. The evaluator had left one question of 32 marks unevaluated,” said the student.
Another student has been declared unqualified in 6th semester of his undergraduate course while as she has qualified the PG entrance test of Kashmir University in Urdu subject.
“I got the xerox of my 6th semester answer script rechecked by a college professor in Budgam. The college professor awarded me 45 marks but the evaluator in 5th semester exams gave me only 24 marks while 32 marks are required to pass the paper,” said a student of Khag.
The admission department of KU has started issuing selection list of the qualified candidates for PG admission while hundreds of meritorious students are waiting for their reevaluation results.
Our future is at stake, KU should expedite re-evaluation process so that we can also be given admission in our PG courses,” said a student from Khag.
A top official in admission department of KU said they are waiting for examination department to compete the re-evaluation of answer scripts. “We can consider these students, if the results are declared in coming few days,” he said.
Controller examination of KU didn’t respond to calls from this newspaper.
