Sopore: A 30-year-old shopkeeper who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen four days ago was found dead in an orchard in north Kashmir’s Sopore area on Saturday morning.

Tawseef Ahemd Ganie, son of Mohammad Afzal Ganai of Tujjar Sopore, was abducted by unknown gunmen from his shop at Younisoo village of Handwara on Wednesday afternoon.

Reports said that the body of abducted shopkeeper was recovered from an Apple orchards with at Harwan village on Saturday morning. His body was found with throat slit, reports added.

Meanwhile, senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Sopore, Javid Iqbal confirmed the incident, saying that investigations in this case was set into motion.

Pertinently, this was second such case in Zaingeer belt of Sopore in last two weeks.

Earlier, a labourer was abducted by unknown gunmen from his home and later his body was recovered in orchards.

Meanwhile, soon after his body was brought to his native village Tujjar after all legal formalities, hundreds of people across Zaingeer belt rushed towards his home to participate in his last rites.
