Anantnag: Unknown persons tried to set ablaze the house of a BJP candidate for the upcoming Municipal polls in Dooru area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The residential house of Gul Mohammed Khan, BJP members and its candidate was set ablaze at Mandipora area of Dooru.
Sources said that unknown persons on late Wednesday night barged into the field of a BJP candidate in Dooru area and burnt down his harvest.
Police later reached the spot, however the persons fled from the spot.
Pertinently, more than one dozen candidates from Dooru area have withdrawn their nomination papers from the ULB elections and have also resigned from the basic membership of the party.
Citing many reasons, BJP constituency President, Ghulam Hassan Bhat resigned from basic membership of party along with workers with immediate effect.
Official sources confirmed that three BJP and two congress nominations have been withdrawn.
