Srinagar: A video Tuesday surfaced on the social media allegedly showing Dr Reyaz Farooq attending to patients in a clinic and writing prescriptions, however, the doctor has rejected what has been shown in the video saying that he ‘is not practicing in private’ and that he is ‘too busy’ for that.

The voice in the video states that place shown in the video is the spot where the doctor, who also happens to be the Principal Govt Dental College (GDC), ‘is practising in private.’

When contacted, Dr Reyaz said that as a Principal, he hardly gets any idle time for the practice and the video is “just an attempt to malign his image,” he said.

Dr Reyaz said that the place which was shown in the video is actually the clinic where his brother who is an orthopedician, practices.

“I was at the place, and somebody came for consultation regarding some complications, which I did as a doctor,” he said. “My schedule is so tight that I hardly get any free time. Practising in private is out of the question. I used to practice in private earlier, but for last 14 years I am serving as the Principal GDC, and I am performing my duties only as the Principal,” he said.

The setting in the video is that of a clinic, however, Dr Reyaz is not shown particularly seeing any patient. The video shows him writing something on the paper while he is in a hurry.

Dr Reyaz said that it is out of question for a person who is working as a principal of any prestigious institute and at the same time practices in private.

“Private practice needs time, a lot of time, come to my office and you will see me in my cabin right from the morning till the evening,” he said.

He said that if anybody proves that he is earning a penny by doing private practice, he was a guilty then, “prove it to me and I will do whatever you want,” he said.
