Two CRPF men killed in Kokernag

Srinagar: Two CRPF men were killed when the vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident and over turned at Hiller area of Kokernag on Wednesday. However, police said that the accident resulted due to stone pelting as the vehicle was targeted by a stone pelting angry mob.

Reports said that a vehicle belonging to the 164 Battalion of the CRPF was moving in Hiller Kokernag area when the vehicle came under stone pelting.

A police official said that a stone hit the driver of the vehicle and as a result he lost control over the vehicle and hit a motorcycle which also belonged to the 164 Battalion. Two CRPF personnel who were riding the bike sustained injuries and were rushed to a hospital where they succumbed, the official added.

The incident left two other, including a cop injured, police added.

The deceased CRPF men have been identified as Nazeer Ahmad Wani of Kokernag and Riyaz Ahmad of Verinag. The injured CRPF trooper has been identified as Roop Singh, the official added.

The official identified the injured policeman as Rayees Qamar of Sherpora Anantnag.
