Srinagar: Hurriyat conference (M) chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Wednesday said that Kashmir is no one’s integral part as it belongs to the people of Kashmir.

Notably, Mirwaiz was detained by the authorities as soon as he defied his house arrest to move towards Shopian to express condolences with the bereaved families and solidarity with the people of Shopian as part of the JRL program.

According to the statement issued here, Hurriyat (M) strongly condemned the arrest of Mirwaiz along with Hurriyat leader Engineer Hilal Ahmad War, AAC leaders Ghulam Qadir Beigh, Advocate Yasir Dalal, Mushtaq Ahmad Sofi, Farooq Ahmed and others and said that claims of authorities regarding freedom of leadership to move stand exposed.

Before his arrest, Mirwaiz addressed the people and media gathered outside his residence.

Mirwaiz said that it is sad but a telling reality that not even a whimper of concern or protest is expressed at the brutal killing of Kashmiri’s by any among India’s humanists, rights activists ,civil society members or writers.

“They have closed their eyes and ears to the injustices and atrocities being committed here and no one among them wants to question it,” Mirwaiz said.

Mirwaiz said more than 18 people have been killed in the last few days as the killing continues. “And most among them young boys .These young boys are the future of this land. It is extremely painful that these bright kids leave their studies and dreams as they see oppression and injustice perpetuated as a consequence of the status quo maintained over the Kashmir disputed and New Delhi’s rejection to acknowledge and engage with the dispute to resolve it. What they see since childhood is Kashmir converted into a large military garrison and battle ground with lakhs of troops stationed here and where every form of expressing dissent is choked by might and repression,” he said.

“When these boys who are barely even trained in combat are killed by blowing up the houses where they trapped and their charred bodies retrieved, people cannot control their emotions and in their love for them they come out in lakhs to pay homage to them and here again military might is put into place and these civilian protestors are shot at with live bullets and pellets leading to their brutal death and severe injury. People are maimed and Pellets guns used to blind them. What kind of inhumanity is this,” Mirwaiz asked?, adding that “how can India claim to be a democracy? Is this the way to respond to peoples’ dissent and demand for the resolution of dispute? That you decide to wipe out entire generation of our young.”

“New Delhi repeatedly says Kashmir is integral part of India. It’s the land of Kashmir that they want to keep grabbed by forcible control while the people of Kashmir are the impediment to them,” he said.

“Let me tell them that Kashmir is no one’s integral part it belongs to the people of Kashmir and it is our fundamental right to decide our future and destiny and people of Kashmir are giving supreme scarifies for this cause. No amount of might will break our resolve. Nor will propaganda lies and fake narratives. Kashmir was and is a dispute that has to be resolved through Right to Self Determination,” Mirwaiz added.

“While our current condition is a result of New Delhi’s obstinacy local quislings in the form of PDP and NC are equally responsible. Their lust for power has made them repeatedly compromise the interests of Kashmiris and today we have come to a stage where our fourth generation from 1947 is paying the price of their lust with its blood,” he stated.
