KU suspends class work for today, postpones exams

Srinagar: In the wake of civilian killings, Kashmir University has postponed all its exams which were scheduled on Wednesday. The varsity also decided to suspend class work for today.

“In view of concerns expressed by students, all Kashmir University examinations scheduled to be held on April 4, 2018 (Wednesday) are postponed, official spokesman of the varsity said, adding that fresh dates for the deferred examinations shall be notified separately, later.

He also said that there will be no class work in the varsity on Wednesday.

“Class work at University of Kashmir shall remain suspended on April 4, 2018 (Wednesday),” he said.

The authorities in Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) have decided to postpone all the exams scheduled on Wednesday.

“The exams slated for Wednesday have been postponed. Fresh dates will be announced later, separately,” a spokesman of the varsity said.

Meanwhile, the district administration in various districts have also closed schools and colleges for today.

Deputy Commissioner Shopian Gazanffar Ali said the schools and colleges will remain closed on Wednesday in the district.

Also, the schools and colleges within the Baramulla town, Sopore sub division Delina, Palhalan and Pattan area will also remain closed on Wednesday.

District administration Kupwara has also decided to close some higher secondary schools and colleges in the district.

Meanwhile, deputy Commissioner Bandipora has decided to suspend the class work in Government degree College Bandipora keeping in view the prevailing situation in Valley.

However, authorities were silent on allowing class work in Srinagar schools and colleges for today. All senior officials of the district administration remained tight lipped over whether to allow or suspend the class work in educational institutions today.
