Two OGWs of Ansar Gazwatul Hind held with arms, ammunition: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two activists of militant outfit Ansar Gazwatul Hind from Hygam area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

A police officer concerned told a local news agency that acting on a specific input about the movement of the OGWs of Ansar Gazwatul Hind led by Zakir Musa at Chik Hygam in Sopore, the joint team of army and SOG launched searches and arrested the two activists.

The official identified the duo as Parvaiz Ahmad of Dadsara, Tral, Awantipora, and Aamir of Bohoo, Awantipora. “Two hand grenades and one pistol were recovered from their possession”.

The official further said that the duo was planning to recruit fresh youth in the outfit in north Kashmir.

“A case under relevant section of law has been registered and further investigations initiated,” the official said. (GNS)
