Srinagar: Former chief minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday took a dig at the state government over disallowing  Hurriyat (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani from offering funeral prayers in absentia for militants and civilians killed in south Kashmir’s Shopian.

“Why? I thought the state government had announced that he had been granted “azadi”, what happened?,” Omar  wrote on Twitter.

Pertinently, director general of police S P Vaid last week said that Geelani, Mirwaiz and Malik were ‘free’ to go anywhere they wish to. He, however, said the trio should not make “anti-national” speeches or create a law and order problem.
