Shopian killings aftermath: Protests rock Kashmir University

Srinagar: Following the killing of thirteen militants and four civilians in Shopian and Anantnag villages yesterday, the students of Kashmir University on Monday staged massive protests on the campus to oppose the varsity’s decision to hold the 13th J&K Science Congress (2018) function, reports said.

Reports said that the students questioned the varsity decision of holding the function despite the civilian killings in Shopian.

Pertinently, thirteen militants were killed in three encounters in Shopian and Anantnag villages and in the ensuing clashes four civilians were also killed after forces opened fire on protesters who were trying to help trapped militants escape from the cordon in Kachdoora and Dragad villages of the Shopian district.
