Sopore observes partial shutdown, clashes reported

Sopore: A partial shutdown is being observed in parts of Sopore town on Sunday to mourn the death of militants in separate gunfights in south Kashmir’s Shopian and Anantnag districts.  

Reports said that shops and other business establishments are closed in parts of Sopore town including Main chowk, Tehsil road and Chankhan area soon after a group of youth appeared in the areas and pelted stones on shopkeepers and public transport to ensure the shutdown in the town.

 At least eight militants, including top commanders, were killed in separate gunfights in Anantnag and Shopian districts. At least four militants have been surrounded by the forces in Kachdoora village, reports added.

Meanwhile, similar kinds of reports are pouring in from various areas of Srinagar also.

reports said that protests erupted in Old city area of Srinagar following the killings.
