Bloodbath in Valley claims 18 lives in a single day

Srinagar: One more civilian was killed in government forces action near encounter site at Kachdora area of Shopian taking the death toll of civilians to three.

Official sources said that a youth Mehraj-Ud-Din Bhat of Kachdoora received critical bullet wounds in fresh forces action.

Bhat was immediately taken to district hospital Pulwama where doctors declared him brought dead on arrival.

Medical Superintendent Dr Abdul Rashid Parra confirmed that the youth was dead before his arrival at the hospital.

With Bhat’s killing, the death toll on Monday shot-up to 18. The dead include 12 militants, three civilians and three soldiers.  While seven militants were killed at Dragad, four killed at Kachdoora and one killed at Dailgam, Anantnag.

Meanwhile, over hundreds of people suffered injuries in day-long clashes in parts of south Kashmir. (GNS)
