Srinagar: Clashes erupted between protesters and government forces during a search operation in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday, reports said.

According to reports, as soon as a joint team of Army’s 13 RR unit, Special Operations Group (SOG) of the police and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation in the village, scores of protesters took to streets and pelted stones on the troops.

“The forces retaliated by firing teargas shells, triggering clashes in the area,” witnesses said.

The protestors fought pitched battles with the forces after which the operation was called off, sources added.
