Three youth injured during clashes

Pulwama: At least three youth suffered injuries during a clash with government forces in Palpora village of Pulwama district on Wednesday, sources said. 

They said that the youth started pelting stones on the forces after they tried to lay a cordon in the Palpora village on Wednesday afternoon. The cordon was laid after specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area were received.

The youth were hit by pellets that were used by government forces to chase away the protestors, witnesses said.

They said that all the injured were shifted to district hospital Pulwama for treatment.

A doctor working in district hospital Pulwama while confirming the injuries to the three youth told ‘Kashmir Vision’ that two of the injured youth had minor injuries while as one among the injured has a grievous injury on his head.

“It seems that various pellets have hit the youth in his head,” he added.

Meanwhile, a cordon and search operation was carried out by government forces at Palpora Wasoora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district and Chowan Keller area Shopian district.

Official sources said the government forces including 55-RR and Pulwama Police launched the search operation in Palpora Pulwama while as 44-RR and Shopian police launched the search operation in Chowan Keller Shopian after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants in these areas.

Sources said that large number of forces were deployed and all entry and exit leading to the areas have been sealed.

They added that door to door search operation was carried out at both the places.

Pertinently, earlier a similar search operation was launched in Bamnoo Pulwama and Pombay Kulgam, both of which ended peacefully.
