Jammu: The Army and the police launched a massive search operation near the Tawi river area in Jammu city after locals reported about two people roaming around suspiciously, police said.

“We have launched a search operation on the Tawi banks and the Bhagwati Nagar belt of the city after locals reported suspicious movement of two people early this morning,” SP (Rural) Shivdeep Singh said.

The unidentified individuals, dressed in Army uniform, were spotted in the area asking for directions to the city, he said.

The officer further said the duo attempted in vain to place a call using a mobile phone of a local.

After the incident was reported to the nearest Army unit, a joint search operation was launched in the area, Singh said.

Security was beefed up in and around Yatri Bhavan, some two kilometre from Bhagwati Nagar, the SP said.

Film director Vidhu Vinod Chopra was shooting for a film close to the spot of the search operation. PTI
