Kulgam: Awami Itehaad Party (AIP) president and MLA Langate, Engineer Abdul Rasheed Sheikh Wednesday said that the revelations made by the Union government over AFSPA and lethal weapons are the confession of the fact that aggressive and harsh policies of New Delhi have failed in Kashmir.

Pertinently, the Union government had revealed that removal of AFSPA is not under the consideration and less lethal weapons will be used in Kashmir to deal with the protesters.

While interacting with people at Hanger Yaripora, Qaimoh and Chadder in Kulgam district today, Er Rasheed according to the statement issued here said that New Delhi should give up its arrogance and understand the basic reality that J&K is not a law and order problem but an internationally recognized dispute which can be solved only by fulfilling the promises made with Kashmiris from time to time.

“Denial of Union Govt to remove AFSPA or even considering its partial withdrawal is ample proof that New Delhi has lost the moral battle and is ruling J&K through the barrel of the gun. There can be nothing shameful than the fact that rather initiating meaningful political dialogue New Delhi is projecting a proposal to use less lethal weapons against Kashmiris as a confidence building measure,” he added.

Er Rasheed reiterated that talks with all stake holders especially militant groups is the only way forward to bring back peace in the entire sub-continent.

He said the claims of New Delhi to teach Pakistan a lesson at the borders has proved ‘a cruel joke’ as the guns at the borders are roaring from both sides and innocent Kashmiris are getting killed for none of their fault.

Er Rasheed also condemned fringe Hindu radical elements who have been given liberty to hurt sentiments of Muslims. “What Hindu Mahasaba has narrated about Muslim masques and shrines and historical places is shocking, condemnable and unacceptable. Not only that these organizations should be banned but stern action must be taken against these sick minded self styled warriors of Hindu Dharma,” he said.

He also visited the family of Javid Ahmad Bhat at Qaimoh, who is currently lodged in Tihar Jail for none of his fault.

While expressing sympathy with the family, AIP leader said that Javid should be released without subjecting his family further to mental torture.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Bari Nayak, AIP district President Kulgam appealed masses to fight politically by joining hands with likeminded forces to seek resolution to Kashmir dispute.

Er Rasheed also visited Adhaal Kukarnag to pay condolences to the family of renowned poet and writer Maqbool Sahil.

He said that Maqbool Sahil’s sudden death is a huge loss for the entire nation.
