Police solves murder case within 24 hours

Srinagar: Police on Thursday claimed to have solved a murder case by arresting the accused within 24 hours after the crime was committed.

A spokesman of police said that on 21st of March 2018, Police Station Nubra received an information through reliable sources that during intervening night of 20/21 March 2018, one Nepalese citizen working as a labourer namely Raju Tamang S/O Birbal Tamang R/O Melanchi Ward No. 7 had stabbed his colleague namely Arjun Sai S/O Jai Bahadur R/O Surkal Nepal at village Sumoor Nubra.

“Both the victim and accused persons were playing cards in their rented house. During gambling the accused person ran short of money and had staked his mobile phone till subsequent arrangement of money. Late at night when they finished playing cards, the accused person asked the victim to return his mobile phone. On this the victim demanded the money that he had won from him and a minor scuffle took place between the duo” the police official said.

“Later, when the deceased was leaving for his room, the accused person caught hold of him and stabbed the victim and left him injured on the spot and ran away. The victim remained unattended for a long time after stabbing until one of his colleagues heard cries for help. On this other labourers living nearby reached the spot and shifted the victim to Sub Divisional Hospital at Diskit for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries due to loss of blood”, police said.

“On receipt of this information Police Station Nubra registered a case FIR number 05/2018 under section 302 RPC and investigation was started”, the official added.

“During the course of investigation, multiple checkpoints were established & searches were conducted at probable places. After hectic efforts, the accused was arrested within 24  hours.”

Meanwhile, SSP Leh Ms. Sargun Shukla lauded the role of the police personnel of P/S Nubra under the command of SHO Nubra Shri Mohammad Nissar & supervision of DySP Shri Sonam Dorjey for solving the murder case in such a short period and successfully affecting the arrest of accused person who was evading arrest after committing the offence and recovery of the weapon of offence.
