Kulgam youth thrashed by militants, succumbs at SKIMS
Kulgam: A youth who was thrashed and tortured allegedly by militants on March 8 this month has succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS this morning.
Omais Rashid Bhat was allegedly roughed up and tortured in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and militants had reportedly claimed the attack saying that the youth was involved in ‘anti-movement’ activities.
Police had said that one Omais Rashid Bhat of Qaimoh aged about 20 years was abducted by some unknown persons from his native village Qaimoh during evening hours of March 8 with intention to kill him. He was then thrown away at Ves Batpora area in almost unconscious state and later on referred to Srinagar hospital for treatment.
Police have registered an FIR vide number 4/18 under section 364 RPC and had taken up investigation.”
Meanwhile, according to family sources, Omais breathed his last this morning and his body was taken to his native village for last rites.
