Srinagar: Residents of Dargah Hazratbal have expressed dismay over the failure of authorities to take action against the vendors who install their stalls on the roads and park their vehicles along the road side which leads to defacement of the natural landscape along the road.

The vendors who come from different areas are seen parking their vehicles on the road divider leading to the defacement of the preserved landscape, locals said.

“So far the concerned authorities have failed to look into the matter, and also in declaring such places as no parking zones,” a local said.

The concerned Police Station, locals are saying, has not so far taken any action leading to the defacement of the locations, “it is like they are acting as mute spectators, doing nothing,”

The situation gets worse particularly on Fridays, when large number of vendors throng to the area which not only leads to the frequent traffic jams but is also leading to further defacement of such patches.

The locals, in this regard have appealed to the concerned authorities to look into the matter, which they seem to have been avoiding so far, “we demand that the authorities should take immediate steps to check the menace of wrong parking which leads to the defacement of the area,” locals said.
