Awantipora, Tral shuts for 2nd consecutive day to mourn militant killings

Srinagar: A complete shutdown was observed on Saturday in Tral and Awantipora areas for second consecutive day on Saturday, against the killing of three militants, during a gunfight with government forces at Balhama area of Khanmoh in the outskirts of Srinagar City, on Thursday evening.

All shops, business establishments and other institutions remained closed, while public transport was also off the roads.

Pertinently internet service were restored in the area yesterday evening and train services too on resumed Saturday.

Earlier, two militants identified as Owais Ahmad of Nowdal Tral and Shabir Ahmad of Aghanjipora Awantipora, were killed in an encounter with security forces at Balhama, after an attack on BJP leader.

Later on Saturday morning, dead body of third militant namely Abu Hamas from Pakistan was recovered from the debris at Balhama Khonmoh,  police said.
