Schools, colleges remain shut for the day

Srinagar: All the educational institutions including schools and colleges remained closed in Srinagar district and other parts of south Kashmir districts on Monday.

The closure of educational institutions was ordered as a precautionary measure to avoid law and order situation in wake of the killing of three militants including two local militants, during an encounter with forces in Anantnag.

Besides educational institutions in Srinagar, authorities also closed degree college Shopian, Pulwama and other parts of south Kashmir.

Class work at the University of Kashmir also remained suspended on Monday and all the examinations scheduled were also postponed.

“Fresh dates for the deferred examinations will be notified separately, later,” said the spokesman of the varsity.

Also, the interviews for contractual lecturers (Kargil Campus) in the subjects of Integrated Botany, Zoology, which were scheduled to be held at the University of Kashmir on Monday were postponed.

According to Dean, School of Biological Sciences, fresh dates will be announced later.

Meanwhile, all Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST) Awantipora also postponed exams that were scheduled for Monday.

“Fresh dates for the deferred examinations will be notified separately,” said a varsity spokesman.

All the board of school education (BOSE) examination scheduled were also postponed.

“Fresh dates for the deferred examinations will be notified separately,” said Chairperson Board of School Education Veena Pandita.
