Perking up education: Crucial posts in many zones remain vacant for years
Srinagar: Signifying the poor performance of the school education department, the crucial post of Zonal Educational Officers (ZEO’s) and Principals are lying vacant from the past many years in many zones.
The post of ZEO is lying vacant from past more than three years while as both the higher secondary schools-Boys and Girls in the Char-e-Sharif education zone are headless for years.
Besides, the schools in upper belt of the education zone are facing dearth of teaching staff as well, insiders in the department said.
“The authorities are least bothered about providing adequate teaching staff as well as school heads in the educational institutions,” a group of teachers said.
They said the teachers who were transferred to the schools of this zone, were adjusted in office of the ZEO Chrar-e-Shareef and other offices which has taken a toll on the academic activity in schools.
“Under SSA norms, ZRP and CRP can be appointed for two years only but the blue eyed teachers are enjoying their stint in offices for last more than seven years,” the teachers complained.
The prolonged stint of these blue eyed teachers in zonal and district offices of education department has exposed the poor implementation of the departmental orders regarding de-attachment of teachers from offices.
“There are clear directions from Director Education to all ZEOs and CEOs to relieve teachers from their offices. Ironically, there is no implementation of these orders,” the teachers said.
They said the blue eyed teachers were adjusted on deployment in ZEO offices days after their transfer in this zone.
“They are enjoying their stay in offices for longer period unnecessarily,” the teachers said.
They alleged that the teachers, who have been retained in offices in violation of department instructions, are hand in glove in all frauds.
“We appeal secretary school education and director school education to ensure that de-attachment orders are implemented on ground,” the teachers from zone Chrar-e-Shareef said.
Meanwhile, Director school education said the department has issued promotion orders in department on basis of which post of Principals and ZEO in Chrar-e-Shareef will be filled very soon.
“Also, we have instructed all CEOs and ZEOs from time to time to relieve teachers from their offices. Any officer who will fail to implement the orders will face action,” Itoo said.
