Lal Chowk shuts against militant killings

Srinagar: Following the killing of three militants in Hakoora area of Anantnag,  a spontaneous shutdown is being observed in Lal Chowk Srinagar.

Eesa Fazili, a resident of Soura area of Srinagar, along with his two associates were killed in an overnight gunfight with government forces in Hakoora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district today morning.

 All the shops and business establishments were closed as soon as the slain militant’s body reached Soura.

Hundreds have gathered for the funeral of the slain militant.

Meanwhile, authorities fearing protests have imposed restrictions in Srinagar parts including old city.

Restrictions have been imposed in the police station areas of Maharajgunj, Safakadal, Rainawari, Nowhatta, Khanyar and Soura as a precautionary measure to maintain law and order.

All educational institutions have been closed in Srinagar while railway services have been suspended across Kashmir.

High speed mobile internet services have been reduced to 2G in Srinagar.
