Drug peddler arrested in Srinagar

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar with contraband substance.

“Based on a specific information, a police party of police station Batamaloo led by SI Abdul Rashid laid a naka near Mominabad Batamaloo,  one Eco van bearing registration No. JK02BQ 3165 was intercepted and during search 65 bottles of codeine phosphate was recovered from the said vehicle”, police said.

“The driver of the vehicle was apprehended and was identified as Shoib Mohd Pandith son of Late Nazir Ahmad Pandith resident of N. R. Colony-A Bemina. He is a chronic drug peddler” , police added.

Consequently, a case FIR No. 39/2018 under section 8/21 NDPS Act stands registered in Police Station Batamaloo  and investigation has been taken up.
