BPCL organizes charity cricket tournament

Jammu: In order to contribute for the cause of underprivileged students of Sangarsh Vidya Kendra School, the J&K Chapter of Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) organized a charity cricket match among its stakeholders at SIDCO Complex, Bari Brahmna, near here on Monday.

Minister for Industries & Commerce, Chander Prakash Ganga was chief guest on the closing ceremony of the month-long tournament.

Four teams comprising Dealers from Jammu & Kashmir provinces along with contractors/vendors & BPCL Officers & staff of J&K played two semi-finals to play the finals between Kashmir Dealers & Contractor/Vendors. Contractors/Vendors were winners of the match, man of the match, best bowler, and best batsman. The Territory Manager J&K, Rajesh Sharma gave awards to the players.

The students of Sangarsh Vidya Kendra School, who were invited specially to witness the match in the SIDCO complex cricket ground at Bari Brahmana displayed their talent by performing in front of the gathering. The students of this school mainly hail from the slum areas.

Earlier, the Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga declared open the tournament by playing the first ball and also appreciated the efforts of J&K team of BPCL for carrying out the charity cricket match. He also stated that such noble gesture of the Maharatna Company will go a long way in helping the poor and deserving children to display their talent in future gestures.
