CM heaps praise on girl skiers for making to International event

Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Saturday showered praises on two girl skiers who are all set to represent India in Asian Ski Championship to be held in Iran next month.

“Best wishes to Shabista Shabir & Sabiya Nabi from Tangmarg as they represent India at the Asian Alpine Ski Championship in Iran”,  Mehbooba tweeted.

Pertinently, Shabista and Sabiya hailing from Tangmarg area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla District have participated in five national championships so far representing the state. This is for the first time the two girls will be representing India in any international event.

In this regard J&K Tourism department recently facilitated two young female skiers from Valley with International Ski Federation (FIS) approved ski sets for their participation in the Junior Asian Alpine Ski Championships to be held in Iran from March 1.

Both the girls have performed well in the selection trials and were selected to represent India for the Asian Championship.
