One way traffic restored on Kashmir highway

Srinagar: After remaining suspended for more than six hours due to landslides and shooting stones,  one way traffic was restored on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, the only road linking Kashmir valley with the rest of the country.

” All the stranded vehicles have been allowed to move from Jammu towards Srinagar as the clearance work at most places has been completed’, a traffic official said adding that no vehicle shall however be allowed to move from Srinagar to Jammu.

Earlier, Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed due to landslide and falling of stones from hill tops in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Traffic was suspended on the highway due to falling of rocks and landslide triggered due to rains in Digdol belt in Ramsoo tehsil of the district today.

The men and machines of Border Roads Organisation (BRO) were pressed into service to clear the landslides.
