Govt suspends Dr Ahanger

Srinagar: Government on Wednesday suspended Dr A G Ahanger from the post of secretary (Coordination) Health & Medical Education following his failure of joining the duties even after the passage of more than one Month.  

Dr Ahanger, the former Director SKIMS, After his attachment to the GAD in the month of January this year, was later appointed as secretary (Coordination) Health & Medical Education, however, as per sources he did not join his duties, following which on Wednesday the government ordered his suspension.

Pertinently, government in January attached Dr Ahanger and also suspended three other doctors following the complaints of private practice even after drawing non-practicing allowances.

“Prof.(Dr.) Altaf Kirmani,  Dean & Head, Department of General Surgery; Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Head, Department of Neurology and Dr. Wajid Ali, Head, Department of Neonatology, SKIMS, Soura have been placed under suspension for violating norms of not practising while serving the SKIMS,” read the government order issued in January.

On January 12 the government appointed Dr Ahanger as secretary (Coordination) Health & Medical Education, while as Dr Ahanger has challenged the attachment order issued by the government and the case is still going at J&K High Court.
