Forces cordon DDC’s office in Pulwama, search conducted

Srinagar: Panic gripped the office of the District Development Commissioner (DDC) in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district after troops cordoned off the entire premises and launched a search operation in the office block.

According to the eyewitness, a person carrying a bag was asked to stop at the police check-post near the gate of the building which he ignored. The cops at the gate sounded an alarm and subsequently, a search operation was launched to nab the intruder.

Reports said that a joint operation was launched by 55 Rashtriya Rifles of Indian Army, 183 Battalion CRPF and SOG of Jammu Kashmir Police in the office premises as the troopers asked all the employees and officials to leave their offices.

However, it was later found that the said person was carrying a bag full of papers and he became nervous when he was asked to stop for checking. The forces later called off the search operation and the situation soon became normal in the area.

Meanwhile, the government forces also conducted the search operations in Malangpora and Audoora villages of Pulwama.

Reports said that the government forces arrested a civilian in Malangpora during the search operation. However, the search operation in Audoora ended peacefully.

Earlier, Police on late Tuesday evening fired many shots in the air after noticing suspicious movement in Pulwama’s Murran Chowk.

Reports said that the policemen noticed some suspicious movement and fired some shots in air.
