Srinagar: Opposition National Conference (NC) on Monday said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police is capable enough to crack the Kathua rape and murder case, alleging the government is trying to shield the ‘political faces’ by handing over the case to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Talking to ‘Kashmir Vision’ on the sidelines of the presser, NC senior leader and Political secretary to NC working president, Tanvir Sadiq said that the BJP’s demand to handover the Kathua rape and murder case to CBI is aimed to shield the ‘political faces’ who are involved in the crime.

“If JK police is capable to tackle the militant related activities then I believe they are also capable to crack the Kathua minor girl’s rape and murder case,” Sadiq said, adding that such demands are being put forth as some political faces were identified who are involved in the crime.”

Terming the Kathua rape and murder case as a heinous crime, the NC senior leader said that the party will fight till the accused will not be punished according to the law.

The NC leader also lashed out at the Chief Minister Mehbooba mufti for allowing the rally in favour of a ‘rapist’.

“We are shocked over the protest rally that was being allowed to carry out in favour of the culprits involved in the heinous crime,” he said.

“We will continue to target the government till justice will be done to minor Asifa,” he said, adding that the shocking incident shook the consciousness of every individual.

“We will even take to streets in case the culprits won’t be punished,” he added.
