Forces carry out night raids in Char-e-Sharief

Srinagar: After suspected militants fire upon a cop guarding the shrine in central Kashmir’s Char-e-Sharief, the government forces carried out night raids to nab the assailants, reports said.

According to the reports, the raids were carried in Charar-i-Sharief and its adjacent areas that continued till late night on Sunday. However, no one was arrested during the raids.

A policeman was killed after two suspected militants fired upon him. The cop was deployed to guard the Chrar-i-Sharief shrine in Budgam district. The injured policeman was rushed to 92 military base hospital in Badamibagh where he succumbed to his injuries.

The slain policeman was identified as Kultair Singh Rajput, belt No. 441, of Samba in Jammu. He was transferred from Chadoora to Chrar-i-Sharief one month ago. Militants after firing upon him also decamped with his rifle, police said.
