Srinagar: With tension on the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector intensifying, authorities Saturday said that all the medical facilities are being provided to those who are being evacuated and the health department is on the toes.

While taking to ‘Kashmir Vision’ SDM Uri, Dr. Sagar D. Doifode said that the health department has been alerted and those who are being evacuated are provided with all the medical facilities.

“The department is on toes, providing all the medical facilities to the people who have been evacuated from shelling hit areas of Uri,” he said.

When asked if the health institutions are functional in the district, he said that the administration is making sure all the major hospitals remain functional.

Block Medical Officer (BMO) Uri, Dr M. Ramzan while talking to ‘Kashmir Vision’ said that all the major healthcare facilities are fully functional.

“We are making sure that there the entire staff is on duty and is attending to the needs of the patients,” he said, adding that so far there have been “no injuries whatsoever reported.”

The administration has set up a medical camp at a Higher Secondary School, Uri where food and water, including all the essential faculties are being provided to those who are being evacuated from the affected areas.

“The entire health department has been put on high alert,” BMO said, adding that they are using Ambulances and some private vehicles to evacuate people to safer places. “Ambulances and the entire staff are on run to meet any emergency,” he maintained.

Pertinently, on Friday reports said that around 500 people abandoned their homes in Uri villages as India and Pakistan armies continue trading heavy fire in the area, which again began on Saturday creating chaos in the forward areas.
