CASO in Hajin leads to protests

Srinagar: A Cordon and Search Operation was started by government forces on Saturday morning in Hajin town of north Kashmir’s Bandipora District, witnesses said.

They said that following inputs about the presence of some militants in the area, Army’s 13 RR unit, SOG and police launched a cordon and search operation in twin villages of Shakoordin Mohalla and Bonmohalah locality of Hajin around 5am. The forces conducted house to house searches.

Official said that however the forces, could not trace out any hiding militant from the area. “As the forces were withdrawing from the area, some youth assembled in the area and started to pelt stones on the forces forcing them to fire some tear smoke shells. The protests continued for some time after which forces called off the cordon,” witnesses added.
