After brief lull, fresh cross border shelling starts in Uri sector

Srinagar: The armies of India and Pakistan exchanged fresh artillery shelling and firing in Hajipeer and Churanda areas in Uri sector in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.

According to the police sources, fresh firing and mortar shelling took place around 12:30 pm in Hajipeer Sector and heavy shelling and firing is going on.

“Unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan in Uri sector. Army is retaliating,” Jammu and Kashmir Police said.

At least 35 families were shifted to safer places after three residential houses were damaged-one completely and two sustained- partial damage in Tilwari frontier village of Uri.
